NFL Props Wagering – NFL Team to have next player arrested

Alright BetUS NFL online sports wagering fanatics, I’ve got some NFL Props that will make you call the cops!

That’s right NFL wagering enthusiasts, the BetUS Sportsbook is now featuring an entertaining NFL Props Future Wager that focuses on which NFL team will have the next player land in handcuffs.

With NFL players making police blotters on an annual basis recently, this fun wager gives NFL bettors one more exciting way to increase the 2008 NFL seasonal bankroll before the regular season ever gets underway.

BetUS.com spokesman Reed Richards explains the NFL player arrest phenomenon and why the creative oddsmakers have cooked up the exciting Futures odds.

“The NFL is part of the fabric of the lives of fans in America and their interest in their teams and players goes far beyond the field,” Richards said. “This is illustrated by the number of fans who come to us looking for analysis and predictive information regarding which star or team will be in hot water next.”

From the Dallas Cowboys’ Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones to Cincinnati’s troubled wide receiver, Chris Henry, NFL players are getting in more trouble these days than ever before – and cashing in on another player’s unfortunate legal circumstances looks almost inevitable fir the bettor that picks the right NFL franchise.

In short order, here is a look at my top five franchises to have a player arrested during the 2008-09 NFL season.

Dallas Cowboys
Something tells me that Pacman’s legal woes may be over for a while, but lest we forget, the Cowboys have had their share of off-field problems well before Jones ever arrived.

Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have had so many players arrest over the past few years that I’m beginning to think they should have their own reality show.

Miami Dolphins
I know Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano aren’t going to deal with any nonsense at all as they go about their business of rebuilding the Dolphins, but hey, it’s still South Beach right? Miami has become both, a marquee place for entertainment – as well as a crime magnet for pro athletes.

New York Giants/New York Jets
I put these two teams together simply because they are located in New York. It doesn’t take much for a regular citizen to get arrested in the Big Apple, so every NFL player plying his trade in that lovely city should be on guard at all times.

Detroit Lions
The Mayor of Detroit is in hot water – as is the rest of the struggling city, whose crime statistics are some of the highest in the nation. Besides, playing for the lowly Lions could make anyone get arrested in order to prompt a trade or outright release from this NFL penitentiary.

Here is a look at the odds for each NFL Team to have the next player arrested in the BetUS Sportsbook:

Dallas Cowboys 15/1
New York Giants 25/1
Philadelphia Eagles 15/1
Washington Redskins 25/1
Buffalo Bills 25/1
Miami Dolphins 10/1
New England Patriots 25/1
New York Jets 25/1
Arizona Cardinals 25/1
San Francisco 49ers 25/1
Seattle Seahawks 25/1
St Louis Rams 25/1
Denver Broncos 20/1
Kansas City Chiefs 20/1
Oakland Raiders 20/1
San Diego Chargers 25/1
Chicago Bears 25/1
Detroit Lions 18/1
Green Bay Packers 25/1
Minnesota Vikings 20/1
Baltimore Ravens 25/1
Cincinnati Bengals 5/1
Cleveland Browns 25/1
Atlanta Falcons 8/1
Carolina Panthers 25/1
New Orleans Saints 25/1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 25/1
Houston Texans 25/1
Indianapolis Colts 15/1
Jacksonville Jaguars 25/1
Tennessee Titans 25/1

NCAAF Week One – Appalachian State at LSU

Saturday, August 30

BetUS Sportsbook customers will be in for a special treat if they are able to catch the season lid-lifter in Baton Rouge, taking place between last year’s national champions, as the LSU Tigers (12-2 SU, 5-7-2 ATS in 2007) play host to the Mountaineers of Appalachian State (13-2 in 2007). The game is set for Saturday, August 30 at Tiger Stadium (natural turf).

BetUS NCAA Football Betting Odds: LSU -23

Here are some of the NCAA college football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* LSU has won 19 of its last 21 games SU

* LSU is 2-7-2 ATS in its last 11 games

* LSU has played eight of its last nine games OVER the total

* LSU has covered two of its last seven home games

The intrigue here lies in the fact that both of these teams won national titles last season. LSU, of course, glided to a 38-24 Sugar Bowl win over Ohio State to win the BCS championship in Division 1-A ball. Appalachian State won the FCS (formerly Division 1-AA) title for the third straight year under coach Jerry Moore, after pulling off one of the more storied upsets in history in the season opener.

When they traveled to Ann Arbor last September 1 to face the Michigan Wolverines, the Mountaineers, despite their small-college superiority, were little more than an afterthought, considering Michigan was being touted as a possible national title contender. But they were in for the shock of their lives. AppState took a two-touchdown lead in the second quarter, then survived a furious comeback which saw Michigan go ahead with 4:36 left. They drive down the field for the winning field goal with 26 seconds left, and blocked a Michigan field goal attempt as time ran out.

What kind of spoiled it for ASU was a couple of regular season losses to Wofford and Georgia Southern. Otherwise they may have ended the season ranked in both major polls, which would have been an unprecedented feat for an FCS team. As it was, they went on to win the FCS tournament. Appalachian State captured its last two games by 20 points or more, including a 49-21 romp over Delaware in the title match.

LSU lost some great leaders on both sides of the ball. Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, linebacker Ali Highsmith, safety Craig Steltz, wide receiver Early Doucet and fullback Jacob Hester are all ticketed for the NFL. And quarterback Matt Flynn graduated. The Tigers would have been set at quarterback, except for the fact that junior Ryan Perrilloux, the former USA Today high school offensive player of the year who was the MVP of the SEC title game, was kicked off the team. That leaves a huge hole at QB, and something Coach Les Miles has had to adjust to on the run. Jerrett Lee or Harvard transfer Andrew Hatch will be at the controls.

Appalachian State may be in better shape than LSU at the quarterback position. The Mountaineers are led on the field by the fantastic Armanti Edwards, who was 17-23 with three TD’s in the Michigan game and threw for 17 TD’s with seven picks on the season. However, ASU’s biggest personnel loss may have been even more devastating than LSU’s departures, since they don’t have the depth in talent the Tigers possess. Running back Kevin Richardson gained over 6000 combined rushing-receiving yards in his four years at AppState, and replacing this do-everything offensive threat will not be easy.

Miles can look forward to 12 starters returning for his tam – seven on offense and five on defense. With the kind of talent he still as, which includes up to a dozen all-conference performers, his team will again be in the national title mix if a couple of bounces go its way. Perhaps the most important consideration here is that nobody is going to be sneaking up on anybody. After their win at Ann Arbor, the chances are virtually nil that anyone will be taking ASU lightly, and so with LSU focused, maybe they have a chance to make Appalachian State look more like the team that has put together a 7-36-1 record against major college teams in the last 30 years (six of those wins over Wake Forest) and less like the team who was the talk of the sports world for weeks last September.

We’ll take the LSU Tigers and lay the 23 points in the BetUS NCAA football future betting odds,

NCAA Football Week One Odds – South Dakota State at Iowa State

After winning the Great West Football Conference title last season, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, (7-4 SU, 4-0 conf.) will make their inaugural debut in the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2008, beginning with their week one online NCAA football wagering matchup against the Iowa State Cyclones, (3-9 SU, 6-12 Conf., 6-5 ATS, 4-7 O/U).

The newest members of the Gateway Football Conference will now be eligible for the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, which were formerly named the NCAA Division I-AA.

The Jackrabbits averaged 34.2 points per game while limiting their opponents to just 22.2 points per contest.

South Dakota State averaged 165.8 rushing yards per game and 196.6 points per contest through the air, while allowing an atrocious 176.2 yards per game on the ground and another 202.7 through the air and will face what should be a much-improved Iowa State team in this matchup from the one that finished the 2007 season in fine fashion.

In its season under head coach Gene Chizik, Iowa State saved their best football of the season for the final five games which included wins over Kansas State and Colorado.

The Cyclones return seven offensive and defensive starters but still have some big holes to fill after the graduation of quarterback Bret Meyer, a four-year starter who finished his career as Iowa State’s all-time leader in passing (9,499 yards). The Cyclones also need to replace wide receiver Todd Blythe the Cyclone’s all-time receptions leader. Hometown product Austen Arnaud got meaningful playing time last season and will start the season until he falters.

Iowa State made huge strides on defense last season, improving from 102nd nationally and 11th in the Big 12 Conference in 2006 to 65th nationally and seventh in the league in 2007. Senior defensive tackles, Athyba Rubin and Bryce Braaksma, along with standout senior linebacker Alvin “Ace” Bowen are all returning starters and will help lead their younger teammates in 2008.

The Cyclones averaged 123.6 rushing yards per game and 203.2 passing yards per contest while putting up just 18.1 points per contest. Iowa State went 4-2 against the spread, (ATS) at home and 2-3 ATS on the road while recording losing O/U records both, at home, (2-4 O/U) and on the road, (2-3 O/U).

Analysis: I’m going to advise the BetUS online NCAA Football sports wagering community to take the Iowa State Cyclones in this contest as they are playing at home and will likely have a much better team than the one that overachieved immensely last season. Take the Cyclone to cover the spread narrowly.

The Pac-10 has been one of the more intriguing conferences for the past few years. The Oregon Ducks made noise when Dennis Dixon was utilizing his talents at quarterbacks with Jonathan Stewart covering the tailback position. Then Arizona State came out of nowhere to stun the NCAA football betting community last season, and look to build on the momentum they laid down last year.

Rangers Looking To Complete Emphatic Sweep of Lowly Royals

The Texas Rangers (65-58 SU, 68-65 RL, 71-56-6 O/U) made my selection in the BetUS Locker Room a winner yesterday as they narrowly beat the struggling Kansas City Royals (56-76 SU, 62-70 RL, 61-70-1 O/U) on Tuesday, winning 2-1 for their second straight win over their AL counterparts.

Tonight, the Rangers will look to make it a clean sweep of the Royals by handing the ball to rookie left-hander Matt Harrison (5-3, 6.27 ERA) to record their first road sweep of the Royals ever and first road sweep over any opponent since turning the trick against the Oakland A’s on May 2-4, 2005.

Harrison, who has never faced Kansas City, had his three-game winning streak snapped on Friday in a loss to the Cleveland Indians while lasting only 3.2 innings and giving up five runs and seven hits in the Rangers’ 7-5 loss.

The Royals, losers of none of their last 10 games and 16 of 19 in the BetUS Sportsbook, have lost seven consecutive series and will counter with right-hander Brian Bannister (7-13, 5.89) who has lost his last four starts and seven straight decisions since beating the Colorado Rockies on June 23.

Bannister has an astronomical 8.70 ERA in his last 10 starts but looked decent in holding the Detroit Tigers to four runs and five hits in Friday’s 4-3 loss.

“Compared to Banny’s recent outings, this was a major upgrade,” manger Trey Hillman told the Royals’ official Web site.

Here is a look at tonight’s key online sports wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB betting Free Picks.

The Rangers are 4-1 in Harrison’s last five starts following a team loss in their previous game.
The Rangers are 6-2 in Harrison’s last eight starts on grass.
The Royals are 12-5 in Bannister’s last 17 starts vs. a team with a losing record.
The Royals are 1-5 in Bannister’s last six starts with four days of rest.
The Over is 4-0 in Harrison’s last four starts with four days of rest.
The Under is 6-1-1 in Bannister’s last eight home starts vs. a team with a losing record.

Analysis: The Royals are a mess and fans all over the how-me state of Missouri are fed up and currently calling for someone’s – anyone’s – head on a silver platter after suffering through 13 consecutive losing seasons.

Take the Rangers to roll to victory over the pitiful Royals tonight.

MLB Free Picks: Rangers 6 Royals 3

Texas Rangers -1½ +140
Matt Harrison –L -105

Kansas City Royals +1½ -160
Brian Bannister –R -115

Over 11 -Ev
Under 11 -120

The Big 12 is decorated with a lot of colorful teams that enjoy high scoring and a fierce backing from their bet happy alumni. But this is a three team race between Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma. Let’s break it down! As the season gets closer, don’t forget to check out the NCAA Football odds at BetUS.

Missouri Tigers (12-2 SU, 7-1 Conference)
The surprise story of last season was Gary Pinkel’s Tigers, who stormed out of the gates with Chase Daniel at the helm. Daniel had an astonishing 33 touchdowns with 4,306 yards last season and led the Tigers all the way to the conference championship. This year they’re +300 favorites to win the conference. They couldn’t get past Oklahoma last season. What makes you think they have the resolve to do it this year?

Texas Longhorns (10-3 SU, 5-3 Conference)
With the high-flying Colt McCoy at the helm the Longhorns were a passing threat, but failed to convert. They lost three conference games last year despite clobbering Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl. They’re +200 to win the conference more so out of respect than anything else. The defense was paltry last year (7th against the run, hopeless against the pass). McCoy is back with the same offensive line that allowed him to throw for 3,303 yards and 22 touchdowns last year. However, the loss of star running back Jamaal Charles and his 18 touchdowns will be hard to recover from. Buyer beware.

Oklahoma Sooners (11-3 SU, 6-1 Conference)
I have nothing to doubt in the Sooners. I loved them as they won the Red River Shootout, embarrassed Missouri and won the South. However, two glaring losses to Colorado killed their momentum. Then they lost to West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl. Yikes.

Sam Bradford returns after tossing 3,121 yards and 36 touchdowns as a freshman. Is he in for the sophomore slump, or a career year? I say the latter. Superstitious gamblers will say the former. The Sooners have proven that they are the team to beat in the Big 12 Conference.

Texas has been flakey. Missouri has blown big games. Oklahoma has only been slightly better. Makes it hard to place your bets in our future NCAA football wagering doesn’t it? It also makes for an exciting conference race in the Big 12. Open the gates, boys. It’s going to get ugly.
