Last season, Tim Tebow became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy adding to his already decorated career. As a returning junior, Tebow has the chance to take the Heisman home a second time, which would be another unbelievable feat in itself.

The only thing standing in his way are the other candidates that will be vying for the attention of the voters as the NCAA football betting season progresses. Who is your money on in our football futures section? More importantly – who should it be on?

Sam Bradford (QB) – Oklahoma Sooners

Bradford heaved up an unearthly amount of yards and touchdowns last season as the Sooners cruised to a Big 12 Championship behind Bradford’s 3,121 passing yards. He also totaled 36 touchdowns and only 8 picks. Saturday’s game against Chattanooga showed Bradford at his typical best.

He posted a line of 17 completions on 22 passes, 183 modest yards and two touchdowns. Bradford’s numbers will catapult him in to Heisman contention as the season progresses, but he has to prove that he can survive the dreaded “sophomore slump”.

Chase Daniel (QB) – Missouri Tigers

In his final year at Missouri, Chase Daniel is gunning for glory. Daniel took the game in to his own hands against Illinois, and willed the Tigers to a win. He went 26-for-45 and totaled 323 yards with 3 touchdowns and one pick. Those numbers get noticed, and Chase is already on the map. With Jeremy Maclin behind him, Daniel is capable of exploding…unless Maclin, considered one of the best athletes in college right now, steals the show.

Knowshon Moreno (RB) – Georgia Bulldogs

He touched the ball eight times and scored three touchdowns with a yards per carry average of 7.4. Moreno is one of the clear cut favorites to win the Heisman, and performances such as these will have to keep rolling in for Knowshon to overcome the sophomore tag and win the illustrious award.

Tim Tebow (QB) – Florida Gators

The reigning Heisman winner only posted 137 yards on 9-for-14 completions, but the Gators were playing Hawaii so nobody in the NCAAF betting community expected much. The man-child will have to have another monster year to prove he is worthy of repeating. However, if his Herculean efforts don’t translate in to wins, then nothing will matter for the defending champ.

Pat White (QB) – West Virginia Mountaineers

Perhaps the most electrifying man in college football, Pat White now owns the show in West Virginia with Steve Slaton waiting for his chance in Houston. Noel Devine will steal headlines on occasion, but Pat White will hog the Heisman spotlight if he continues to have 5 touchdown performances like he did against Villanova.

Chris Wells (RB) – Ohio State

Wells posted 111 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 attempts before going down with a foot injury. We’ll keep you posed on his health, but this injury looks to be more serious than anyone could imagine. For now, Wells is one of the top contenders, and his efforts up until his injury on Saturday prove his case.

NCAA Football Betting’s Furious Seven

Every Tuesday, the BetUS Locker Room will be ranking the top-7 teams in all of college football. Sorry, Clemson, but you won’t be making the cut. The Furious Seven will change weekly depending on whose where and who beat who. However, this isn’t just about the BCS Championship. This is about teams that are profiting the NCAA football betting faithful on a weekly basis. So let’s get to it!

1. Georgia Bulldogs (1-0 SU, ATS)

The Bulldogs kick started their 2008 online betting season off with a 45-21 thumping of little known Georgia Southern. Matt Stafford threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns on 13-for-21 passing. Knowshon Moreno led the team with 59 yards rushing and three touchdowns on a ridiculous eight carries. Heisman talks are swirling Athens, Georgia as we speak. After Georgia went up 38-0 in the third, there was little reason to use the powerful and versatile runner.

What might entice the betting community to back Georgia down the road is the emergence of Caleb King, their freshman tailback, who led the team in total rushing yards with 95 ground yards on 12 carries. The new offensive line, which started four new guys, protected Stafford and his tailback committee well enough to gain 535 total yards on offense.

We won’t know how good the Bulldogs actually are until Week 4 when they meet ASU, Alabama and Tennessee in back-to-back-to-back matchups. Next week, they face Central Michigan, a team they are 6-0 SU against in their past 6 games at home against.

Next Game: Central Michigan vs. Georgia -24

2. USC Trojans (1-0 SU, ATS)

The Trojans rewarded their betting backers this past weekend with a huge performance by quarterback Mark Sanchez. The Trojans throttled Virginia 52-7 behind Sanchez’s 338 yards passing and three passing touchdowns. CJ Gable proved able as he rumbled for 73 rushing yards and a score.

The Trojans big game comes in two weeks against Ohio State University. The Trojans are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games at home, and that could game will solidify their top ranking in the AP Standings. For now, the Furious Seven has them at number-two until they beat stiffer competition. Two weeks from now, we’ll have a better idea of where they stand.

Next Game: OSU vs. USC

3. Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0 SU, ATS)

The Buckeyes played well enough to beat Youngstown, but who really cares? All eyes are on Beanie Wells to see if he takes the field September 13th. A breezer against Ohio will continue the Buckeyes’ winning ways. Without Beanie, however, their highly anticipated game against USC will be a wash.

Next Game: Ohio vs. OSU -35

4. Oklahoma Sooners (1-0 SU, ATS)

Sam Bardford’s quest for the Heisman continues. Chattanooga was caught under the hailstorm that was Bradford’s terrific arm and leadership. Cincinnati lies in wait, but it’s unlikely that they will prove a test for the big boys from the Big 12.

Next Game: Cincinnati vs. Oklahoma -19.5

5. Florida Gators (1-0 SU, ATS)

Scoring 8 times in 26.5 minutes is a great way to start the season. The fact that the Gators did this without Percy Harvin is even more unbelievable. Tim Tebow led the way with 137 yards, while the rushing game was spread around between Rainey, Demps and Tebow, who shouldered his way to 37 yards. Until Harvin comes back, the Gators are no higher than fifth best, which is still good enough for a mention.

However, the Gators will have a stiff test from a Miami squad that has a lot left to prove. As three-score favorites, the Gators need to show the world that the BCS is theirs to lose. That’s a lot to ask from the team that is supposedly king in the SEC.

Next Game: Miami vs. Florida -21.5

6. Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0 SU, ATS)

Clemson was the big swingers of the SEC until Alabama came a knockin’. The 24th ranked Bama team walloped ninth ranked Clemson to put them on the betting map. Quarterback Wilson had 180 yards and two passing touchdowns, complimented by a rushing score, to lead the Tide to a stunning 34-10 victory. Anyone who decides to fall asleep on Alabama now may be missing out on profits in this upcoming college football betting season.

They may not be ranked higher than eleventh in most polls, but Nick Saban’s crew is making noise and that’s enough to warrant your attention when laying down action in the sportsbook.

Next Game: Tulane vs. Alabama -27.5

7. Missouri Tigers (1-0 SU, ATS)

Chase Daniel put Illinois away with 52 points scored on offense. Their next three games are against low life’s as well, as Missouri State, Nevada and Buffalo remain in the coming weeks. Their going to be a parlay lovers pal in the coming weeks as Daniel and company make their case for Oklahoma’s claim to the Big 12 title.

Next Game: SE Missouri State vs. Missouri

NFL Props Wagering – NFL Team to have next player arrested

Alright BetUS NFL online sports wagering fanatics, I’ve got some NFL Props that will make you call the cops!

That’s right NFL wagering enthusiasts, the BetUS Sportsbook is now featuring an entertaining NFL Props Future Wager that focuses on which NFL team will have the next player land in handcuffs.

With NFL players making police blotters on an annual basis recently, this fun wager gives NFL bettors one more exciting way to increase the 2008 NFL seasonal bankroll before the regular season ever gets underway.

BetUS.com spokesman Reed Richards explains the NFL player arrest phenomenon and why the creative oddsmakers have cooked up the exciting Futures odds.

“The NFL is part of the fabric of the lives of fans in America and their interest in their teams and players goes far beyond the field,” Richards said. “This is illustrated by the number of fans who come to us looking for analysis and predictive information regarding which star or team will be in hot water next.”

From the Dallas Cowboys’ Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones to Cincinnati’s troubled wide receiver, Chris Henry, NFL players are getting in more trouble these days than ever before – and cashing in on another player’s unfortunate legal circumstances looks almost inevitable fir the bettor that picks the right NFL franchise.

In short order, here is a look at my top five franchises to have a player arrested during the 2008-09 NFL season.

Dallas Cowboys
Something tells me that Pacman’s legal woes may be over for a while, but lest we forget, the Cowboys have had their share of off-field problems well before Jones ever arrived.

Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have had so many players arrest over the past few years that I’m beginning to think they should have their own reality show.

Miami Dolphins
I know Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano aren’t going to deal with any nonsense at all as they go about their business of rebuilding the Dolphins, but hey, it’s still South Beach right? Miami has become both, a marquee place for entertainment – as well as a crime magnet for pro athletes.

New York Giants/New York Jets
I put these two teams together simply because they are located in New York. It doesn’t take much for a regular citizen to get arrested in the Big Apple, so every NFL player plying his trade in that lovely city should be on guard at all times.

Detroit Lions
The Mayor of Detroit is in hot water – as is the rest of the struggling city, whose crime statistics are some of the highest in the nation. Besides, playing for the lowly Lions could make anyone get arrested in order to prompt a trade or outright release from this NFL penitentiary.

Here is a look at the odds for each NFL Team to have the next player arrested in the BetUS Sportsbook:

Dallas Cowboys 15/1
New York Giants 25/1
Philadelphia Eagles 15/1
Washington Redskins 25/1
Buffalo Bills 25/1
Miami Dolphins 10/1
New England Patriots 25/1
New York Jets 25/1
Arizona Cardinals 25/1
San Francisco 49ers 25/1
Seattle Seahawks 25/1
St Louis Rams 25/1
Denver Broncos 20/1
Kansas City Chiefs 20/1
Oakland Raiders 20/1
San Diego Chargers 25/1
Chicago Bears 25/1
Detroit Lions 18/1
Green Bay Packers 25/1
Minnesota Vikings 20/1
Baltimore Ravens 25/1
Cincinnati Bengals 5/1
Cleveland Browns 25/1
Atlanta Falcons 8/1
Carolina Panthers 25/1
New Orleans Saints 25/1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 25/1
Houston Texans 25/1
Indianapolis Colts 15/1
Jacksonville Jaguars 25/1
Tennessee Titans 25/1

An uncertain quarterback situation has made the UCLA Bruins 7.5-point home dogs to the Tennessee Volunteers on college football’s version of Monday Night Football.

This game is being broadcast at 8 pm on ESPN and a whopping 88% of the early bettors favor the Vols. Remember to make Sportsbook.com your home for college football this season. You’ll find the greatest array of game and future odds, all released the earliest in the industry.

UCLA’s starting quarterback for Monday night is junior college transfer Kevin Craft, and if you haven’t heard of him, don’t be ashamed. Craft was the team’s third option and is only starting because Patrick Cowan suffered a season-ending knee injury and Ben Olson is still out with a foot problem.

That’s not how Coach Rick Neuheisel drew it up on the blackboard when he was hired in December. Neuheisel played quarterback at UCLA and is a former head coach at Colorado and Washington. He also hired an elite offensive coordinator in Norm Chow, who held the same position for USC and the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.

Craft is trying to make the jump after playing last season for Mt. San Antonio College, and he has struggled more than his share in practice. It doesn’t help matters that the offensive line is suspect and playmakers at the skill positions are mostly unproven. The defense is ahead of the offense at this point, but they have their hands full with Tennessee.

The Vols, out of the SEC, are ranked 18th in the country after going 10-4 last year and 6-2 in the conference. This is the second year in a row they have opened up against a Pac-10 school after suffering a 45-31 defeat at Cal last season as seven-point underdogs.

You can be sure that Coach Phillip Fulmer is hammering away at his team all week about that game to motivate them against UCLA.

The big change to Tennessee this year comes on offense with a new offensive coordinator in Dave Clawson and redshirt junior quarterback Jonathan Crompton taking over for Erik Ainge. Crompton did have two starts against LSU and Arkansas in 2006 and he’s expected to excel in Clawson’s more high powered offense.

Crompton is also aided by the fact the Vols have two talented running backs in Arian Foster and Montario Hardesty. That means they’ll be plenty of play-action passes to a deep receiving corps. The Vols did lose linebacker Jerod Mayo and they have questions on run defense, but the UCLA offensive line doesn’t look good enough to capitalize.

One down note for Tennessee is that starting defensive back Brett Vinson and defensive tackle Donald Langley were suspended for this game due to academic issues.
One betting trend for this game is that UCLA is 20-7 ATS in their last 27 home games, including 5-1 last year. Will that number hold up against a very talented Tennessee team?

Texas, as usual, comes with a lot of talent. The Longhorns return four players from an offensive line that experienced some injury problems last year, and they have at least a couple of wide receivers back with extensive experience in starting games – including Quan Cosby, who caught 60 passes last season. the defense has to replace six starters, including three in the secondary. Thinning out the defensive backfield is a big concern, because of the fact that this team was only 109th in the country against the pass in 2007, giving up almost 278 yards a game.

The losses on offense are big. Limas Sweed was one of the nation’s best wide receivers, and a second-round draftee of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Running back Jamaal Charles, who had a furious finish en route to 1619 yards rushing, departed for the Kansas City Chiefs. Colt McCoy, once hailed as the top schoolboy quarterback in the country, raised some doubts with an 18-interception season (to go along with 22 TD passes).

The Longhorns have had a hard time proving that they can rush the passer. And that could be trouble against Florida Atlantic’s Rusty Smith, a junior who threw for 32 touchdowns with only nine pickoffs last season in being named the Sun Belt Player of the Year. How many people thought he might be thought of as a better pro prospect than McCoy?

Smith joins eight other starters on the offensive unit, including four down linemen, who contributed to this team giving up less sacks than all but a dozen Division I squads. Frantz Joseph, who recorded 64 solo tackles, has a chance to demonstrate that he is in the upper strata of the nation’s outside linebackers, though admittedly he is going to have to get some improvement from his defensive mates, who gave up over 33 points a game last year – including 46 per game to the five out-of-conference opponents on its regular season schedule.

FAU’s program, however, believes it can make a move, and that would be consistent with the history of Howard Schnellenberger, who has brought two previous schools – Miami and Louisville – from nowhere to a level of national prominence. His team posted a +18 turnover margin last year, beat Memphis by 17 points in the New Orleans Bowl, returns a lot of talent, and has an opportunity to catch a team with a mistake-prone quarterback by surprise. This is precisely the kind of situation Schnellenberger has craved, and excelled at, in the past. And it’s enough for us to grab the points here with the Owls, the 23-point underdog in the BetUS NCAA college football betting odds.
