And
then there was one. The Indianapolis Colts handily
defeated the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and stand
as the only undefeated team in the league heading
into Week 6 of the season.
The three other teams that went
into Week 5 with perfect records all lost - the Washington
Redskins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Cincinnati Bengals.
That means the Colts stay atop the list this week,
and they can improve their mark to 6-0 (and ensure
they keep the No. 1 ranking) by defeating the St.
Louis Rams at the RCA Dome on the next edition of
Monday Night Football.
The Redskins, Bucs, and Bengals
all slip this week, but not as much as they might
have if the teams around them in the rankings were
winning. The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a bad loss
to the Dallas Cowboys, the Atlanta Falcons played
without Michael Vick and fell to the New England Patriots,
and the San Diego Chargers were dropped by the Pittsburgh
Steelers on Monday Night Football. In fact, with most
teams at or within a game of the .500 mark about two-thirds
of the Power Rankings has become a toss-up; basically,
outside of a few standouts we still don't really know
who is going to be good this season.
Our Top 5 NFL Teams for
NFL Gambling in Week 6
Indianapolis Colts 5-0-0
Might as well have had a bye last week, as the 49ers
didn't put up much of a fight in their contest.
Pittsburgh Steelers
3-1-0
Picked up a win over San Diego on Monday, but Ben
Roethlisberger ended the game with his knee wrapped
in ice.
Denver Broncos 4-1-0
Jake Plummer went 10-of-25 for only 92 yards passing
versus the Redskins, but they held on for the victory.
New England Patriots
3-2-0
Tom Brady was good in their win against the Falcons,
but the defense didn't look so hot versus a second-string
QB.
Cincinnati Bengals 4-1-0
Failed in their effort to bump their record to 5-0;
will be looking to rebound next week with a game in
Tennessee.
