The Nascar Gambling Season Is Nearly Over --- Yippeee

The Chase for the Nextel Cup ends on Sunday with its tenth race, the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. And Tony Stewart hopes that the Ford 400 ends with him as the Nextel Cup champion. Stewart takes a 52-point lead on Jimmie Johnson into the Ford 400, with Carl Edwards 87 points back in third place. Greg Biffle (102 points behind) and Mark Martin (162 points behind) round out the top five, and have outside shots at the title.   Kyle Busch was the winner last week in the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Biffle finished second at Phoenix, followed by Jeff Gordon, Stewart, and Bobby Labonte. Edwards ended up in sixth place, Johnson was seventh, and Martin was 14th. Last year Biffle took the checkered flag in the Ford 400, and Bobby Labonte visited victory lane there in 2003. Tony Stewart won the event in both 1999 and 2000, when it was called the Penzoil 400.
