Palmeiro figures the best way to repair his tarnished
reputation is to flat out produce. Facing constant boos
in his second game back in the lineup following a 10-game
steroid suspension, Palmeiro doubled, singled and scored
a run in the Baltimore Orioles' 4-3 victory over the Oakland
Athletics on Tuesday night. "I've
always come out and respected the game and the fans,"
said Palmeiro, unaccustomed to such sour treatment during
his 20-year career. "I've always tried to do the
right thing, and fans respect that. I'm going through
a tough time. It's a little rough. I hope it will change
one day."
