| Even
by soccer ridiculous standards, they have ratcheted
up the level of debauchery at their games. A couple
of weeks ago, Mexican soccer fans chanted, ‘Osama,
Osama”, at the US Team during a match. Scottish
soccer fans recently booed a moment of silence for the
Pope, and now this. A soccer match between rival Italian
teams had to be halted in the second half after the
fans started pelting the goalie with flares. Yes, flares!
You know, those things that the highway patrol light
on the side of the road to divert traffic away from
accidents. They're the same flares that have fire shooting
out of the end.
Amazingly,
it wasn’t like one jerk-off had a single flare.
Instead dozens of flares came raining out of
the stadium and landed near the goalie, who had to
receive medical treatment for his shoulder. Yeah,
I would imagine that getting drilled by a red hot
flare might cause a little damage. The play was temporarily
resumed after the flares were collected, but that
was when round 2 of the flares started. The referee
finally called off the match after the police failed
to intervene. Hey, why would the cops do anything?
Why would the cops have a problem with fans throwing
fire onto the field? That’s not dangerous is
it? Then again, maybe they're just getting ready for
later in the week when Liverpool and Juventus hook
up. The last time these two teams met, 39 fans were
killed. Maybe they're saving their manpower for that
one. Rant courtesy of JimRome.com
