World Cup Soccer - 2006 Fifa World Cup

In Group A Germany (Host) and Ecuador have made it thru to the 2nd round. In Group B England and Sweden have advanced. In Group C action Argentina and The Netherlands who play later on today have already advanced. In group D action live right now on ESPN and ESPN 2 Mexico is trying to join Portugal in the second round with a win or a tie today, if they lose and Angola wins Angola could qualify if they score enough goals.

Anyone can still qualify from group E action games tomorrow include Italy vs Czech Republic and USA vs Ghana. In Group F Brazil is thru with two wins, and Australia is trying to join them and can with a win over Croatia. Assuming Brazil beats Japan and Croatia were to beat the Aussies, Croatia would advance. In Group G Togo plays France and the Swiss play S. Korea. The Swiss lead the group and Korea and France are vying for second place to advance. Zidane will not play for France because of yellow cards.

Finally in group H Spain has qualified already and the Ukraine look like the team we thought they were on Monday with a 4-0 win over the Saudi's and I expect the Ukraine to beat Tunisia to join Spain. If Tunisia beat the Ukraine they will join Spain in the second round, the Saudi's would need a tie in the Ukraine game and they'd need to beat the Spanish by a lot of goals to win.
