After
a big jump to the top of the list
last week the New York Yankees find
themselves falling again. That's good
news for the cross-town New York Mets,
who ride a five-game winning streak
to the No. 1 spot in this week's edition
of the Power Rankings.

|
The Mets now boast the best record in
the entire National League, thanks in part
to the mediocre play of the Pujols-less
St. Louis Cardinals, and they have the largest
division lead in the major leagues. And
if they can take care of the second-place
Philadelphia Phillies in their series this
week they'll be able to add to that big
gap.
Here is the Week
11 edition of the MLB Power Rankings.
01
- New York Mets (Last Week 07) -- Outscored
the D-Backs 37-9 in their four-game sweep,
and Pedro Martinez finally got back into
the win column.
02
- Detroit Tigers (Last Week 03) -- Lost
twice to the rival White Sox last week,
but then beat the Blue Jays twice to stay
one notch up on this list.
03
- Chicago White Sox (Last Week 06) -- Might
be the last week they're behind the Tigers,
if they can handle the Rangers and Reds
in their upcoming sets.
04
- Boston Red Sox (Last Week 02) -- Rain
played havoc on their schedule last week,
forcing them to play a double header versus
the Rangers on Sunday.
05
- New York Yankees (Last Week 01) -- Beat
the Red Sox twice, got rained out, then
immediately lost four straight to Boston
and Oakland to end the week.
06
- Cincinnati Reds (Last Week 08) -- Swept
the Cardinals in a three-game set early
last week to inch closer to the division
lead. Next up: The Pirates.
07
- St. Louis Cardinals (Last Week 04) --
Have still actually been scoring runs at
a good clip, but the pitching let them down
in losing four of their last six.
08
- Los Angeles Dodgers (Last Week 11) --
Lost twice to the Mets to start the week,
but bounced back with two wins over the
Rockies. Next up: The Padres.
09
- Toronto Blue Jays (Last Week 09) -- Have
another four-game series with the Orioles
coming up; won only twice in four games
versus Baltimore last week.
10
- Texas Rangers (Last Week 10) -- Somehow
lost 16-12 to the Royals on Thursday, but
picked up two wins over the Red Sox to stay
atop the AL West.
